Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, May 18th Opening

Fellow FedEx Pilots,
After more than a year in the making, the Pilots For Kids Airplane Room at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis is open! The dedication and grand opening of our airplane-themed room was celebrated on Friday, May 18th.
Two corporations (including FedEx Express), two organizations (including the FedEx Pilots Charitable Fund), and 301 individuals combined to raise a total of $71,311.27 in order to make the room a reality. This would not have happened without the support and efforts of our FedEx ALPA MEC, the IND LEC 500, and the individual pilots and their families who so generously donated to this cause. But, our pilots didn’t just donate money; they also donated their personal aviation memorabilia: patches, wings, helmets, models, etc. and facilitated the customized lithograph artwork (Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, International Space Station) that is displayed in the room.
The purpose of any themed hospital room is to facilitate healing by providing a childfriendly, uplifting and even inspiring environment. I am confident that we have provided just such an environment that will have a positive impact on the well-being of countless children in the years to come. Please accept my sincere appreciation for your generosity and your support of this worthwhile effort.
Gratefully,
Dan Ferracciolo
